Bush's Next Reason For War in Iraq
2) No, it is because of the weapons of mass destruction.
"Our intelligence officials estimate that Saddam Hussein had the materials to produce as much as 500 tons of sarin, mustard and VX nerve agent."
State of the Union Address
January 28, 2003
"Intelligence gathered by this and other governments leaves no doubt that the Iraq regime continues to possess and conceal some of the most lethal weapons ever devised."
Address to the Nation
March 17, 2003
3) Oh, now I remember! It's to liberate this poor country from a brutal dictator and bring democracy to them. They must've asked us for this; after all, there are many other countries that are not under a democracy – why Iraq?
And today, reason # 4: We are there to protect Iraq's oil fields from terrorists!
From the today's Boston Globe:
Bush gives new reason for Iraq war
Says US must prevent oil fields from falling into hands of terrorists
By Jennifer Loven, Associated Press August 31, 2005
CORONADO, Calif. -- President Bush answered growing antiwar protests yesterday with a fresh reason for US troops to continue fighting in Iraq: protection of the country's vast oil fields, which he said would otherwise fall under the control of terrorist extremists.
MR. BUSH, YOU'RE GETTING CLOSER! Keep tryin', we'll believe ya sometime.

here is the deal, soldiers arent drafted anymore. we decide to join up. please stop belittling my decision to serve my country by throwing pointless statistics and obviously closeminded views around. if police are going to raid a house to capture a drug lord, and they find a bunch of kidnapped children should they leave and say "well there are no drugs or drug lords and these kids didnt ask us to come rescue them, how do we know they dont want to be kidnapped?"
peace does not exist, not yet, it needs to be created. think i am wrong? give me an historical example of peace... i know you must be thinking"so it is ok my son, brother, friend, lover...etc died?" dont think you are the only one who has been there, have you ever held a dying mans head in your arms, and promised to tell his wife he loves her? carol, you have your opinions and i fight for your freedom to have them, but are yoou willing to take a stand so strong that you would be willing to give your life for your views? who then can be taken more seriously?
Pvt Miller - you are responding to a really old post! How did you find it? In fact, how did you find it and not read all of the rest of the stuff that I have posted over the past few months? I think that you would have found that I am not the kind of person to "belittle" your decision to "serve your country". As much as I don't believe in war and I am angry, because I think that our administration is corrupt (and it's not just Bush and it's not just now), I am TRYING to practice peace in my life. You most definitely have every right to believe as you do and to do what you choose to do. Doesn't mean that I have to believe that Bush has the best interest of the Iraqis or Americans at heart. If you truly feel that your fighting helps me to have the right to protest, then I thank you for that and honor you by using that right. I don't think any of us knows at what point we would put our life on the line for our beliefs. Even a soldier doesn't know until he/she is tested. There may come a time when I will be tested. As for now, I am doing what I believe I can do - like you are and like we all are. You and I don't see eye to eye, but, hopefully, we could enjoy a conversation of sharing what's important to us. I don't know where you are - if you are serving overseas or stateside. Wherever you are, I pray for your safety and appreciate your comments.
